Research constitutes the first and the summative stage of all activities undertaken by the State Department for Public Works in discharging its mandate. Research and Development is an essential service offered by Kenya Building Research Centre (KBRC) in an effort to explore into innovative products, services, methods and processes desired by the government in developing new building products and technologies. Due to a wide application of the products and technologies discovered through research and promoted through various dissemination procedures, the cost of building and constructions is sustainably reduced enabling affordable building practices and products. The Website and E-library conforms to emerging digital governance systems of availing information, services and products to the public in order to reduce the cost of doing business – meaning that; all citizens will have an equal chance to access information on appropriate building materials and technology when required, at minimal cost.
