Inquiry in the design and development of energy efficient kilns in brickmaking in western and eastern region in Kenya

Inappropriate kilning processes results in high consumption of energy, low quality bricks and low productivity of bricks in Western and Eastern regions of Kenya. Variations in kiln temperature profiles, duration of the soaking period has led to low productivity in terms of quality and quantity of bricks. This study seeks to investigate alternative technologies which are environmentally sustainable, through use of efficient sources of energy for kilning process. Findings of the study be disseminated to the technical personnel in the construction industry and the general public.
