Coordination and promotion of green building concepts in Kenya

Project Description: KBRC was mandated to implement Climate Change Act 2016 in State Department for Public Works. One of its key activity is to establish a sustainable building agenda through Green Building programme, to guide and promote constructions that in their design, construction or operation, reduces or eliminates negative impacts by creating positive impacts on climate and natural environment. Features to be propagated in this programme will include: 1. Efficient use of energy, water and other resources; 2. Use of renewable energy, such as solar and wind energy. 3. Pollution and waste reduction measures, and the enabling of re-use and recycling; 4. Good indoor environmental air quality; 5 Use of materials that are within the locality, non-toxic, ethical and sustainable; 6 Promotion of findings through dissemination to stakeholders in the construction industry.
