Plastics Building Materials survey in Kenya

The use of plastics in buildings is gaining popularity worldwide due to their diversity and affordability. Although Kenya’s building industry is yet to embrace this technology fully, plastic building materials and components are emerging to be light, easy to produce and use, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly. The study’s objective is to explore available innovations of plastic building components that are none load constructions and finishes, such as doors, door frames, windows, window boards, fascia boards, eaves, curtain boxes, storage devices, floor skirting, cornices, architraves, quadrants, and many other decorative components. Increased application of these components will provide alternative building technologies, eliminate plastic waste and clatter on the environment, enhance local manufacturing industries and create a multiplicity of employment opportunities.
